Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
About Motor Neurone Disease
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.
MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order.
Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.
The best wheelchair for MND is one that maximises independence, voice and choice - and now Ottobock has you covered.
In collaboration with the MNDA, Ottobock have developed the new B400 Neuro Power Wheelchair, a power wheelchair specifically designed to provide the best possible quality of life for someone with MND.
B400 Neuro Power Wheelchair
Designed in collaboration with the MNDA
The Ottobock B400 Neuro power wheelchair was developed as part of a MND Association initiative to develop wheelchairs better suited to the requirements of people living with motor neurone disease and other neurological conditions.
Compact, comfortable and designed for use outdoors and inside the home - the B400 Neuro power wheelchair can easily be fitted with accessories and technologies where required and has many options for seating position and cushioning.
Small size, big performance. The B400 Neuro Power Wheelchair has 63 AMP hour batteries with a traveling distance of 35km. This decreases the amount of charges required and increases the time between replacement batteries. 14” rear and 9” front wheels for great outdoor performance, with 12” rear and 8” front options for indoor use.

The total frame is 58cm wide and 106cm deep (including footrests) with an 80 cm turning radius. The B400 Neuro also features rear wheel drive for easier transfer and adjustments with lockable front castor wheels for use in a through floor lift or vehicle.
Adaptable electronic interfaces as standard
PG R’NET control systems and External inputs are available through the Omni LCD display, also able to control your environment through the input devices.
